Pain

I once had an acquantaince
I hated him and tried to send him away
in time he became a comfort, a blanket
pain, that was his name, had become a very dear friend

But he had begun to pack up his things...he was leaving my life
when asked why, he simply replied
"my work here this time is almost complete you see
for the I have now imparted in you the three things I brought with me:

"wisdom...

i set up in your heart so you'd know your love had been stolen
i set up in your heart intensely so you'd know you had loved very deeply"
and then I realized I had learned to nurture the love I possessed within

he continued...

"protection....

i made your heart sensitive and taught you what went wrong
i made you emotional and hesitant so you would avoid harmful situations"
and then I realized that even as my heart was tender I was so careful not to let anyone touch it while it healed

he went on...

"motivation...

i caused you to recognize and quickly withdraw from potentially damaging situations
i caused you to reflect and passions were ignited"
and then I realized I was motivated to pursue purpose and passions long forgotten

So you see in the end
I loved what I first hated
my friend pain had reminded me of the best I knew
to guard my heart with all diligence for out of it flows the issues of life

Love All Day

I love you best
in the morning when
our hearts are fresh
the day has just begun
and again full of possibilities of being with you in brand new ways

I love you beautiful
in the afternoon since
our hearts matured
and we made it though the hump of the day
yet there's still potential for passion and play

I love you most
at nighttime after
our hearts are full and wise and the long day has waned
and our time, easy or not, was sweet and hot,
and I know you more and again for another day

Dreaming

dreaming of
accomplished visions
unearthed passions
accepted love

telling stories of
rewarded faith
realized hopes
satisfied resolutions

living with
broken promises
realized nightmares
disappearing convictions

making it
unbroken promises
fulfilled purpose
renewed days
